Golf Cart Clip

Brief discussions with managers of local golf courses revealed a market for a simple clip to hold a cigar instead of dropping the cigar onto the grass between shots.

I know how much my father enjoys a good cigar while I’m beating him on the links; however, a good cigar isn’t so great when it’s covered with pesticides and dirt.

Clark Throssell, professor of agronomy at Perdue University and co-director of Purdue’s Turfgrass Research and Diagnostic Center warns, “Not only is there a chance that the cigar will come into direct contact with the chemicals, but some courses are irrigated with waste water from sewage treatment plants, so there's a chance of bacterial contamination as well.”

So, my friend and I began exploring Solid Works, a new computer package offered at the Macomb Math Science Technology Center, to design a cart clip that could attach to the bar that connects the roof to the cart.

After many hours of training with the online tutorial, taking school-organized Solid Works classes, and measuring the dimensions of numerous golf carts and cigars, we've developed a product that can clip onto the standard sized golf cart and hold all cigars.
